Moeller Fine Art Ltd., founded in 1972, specializes in late 19th and early 20th Century Masters, and is the foremost art advisory in the United States for works by German Expressionists and the Masters of the Bauhaus. For more fifty years, Achim Moeller, the principal, has helped build important private and public collections that are coherent in concept, period, and quality.
Achim Moeller Art Advisory offers the full spectrum of bespoke advisory services to both new and established collectors, as well as institutions, fiduciaries, and estates. Assisting in all facets of collection management, Achim Moeller Art Advisory provides confidential expertise, impartial advice, and curatorial services – personally guiding each client through an increasingly complex art market.
We pride ourselves on building longstanding relationships with private collectors, curators, dealers, and auction houses. These relationships – combined with our New York and Belin offices, extensive art reference library, and staff fluent in English, German and French – give clients unparalleled access to all facets of the international art market, while maintaining complete confidentiality and discretion at the highest level.
At the core of art advisory lies the strength of the relationship between the advisor and his client. Among the many collections I have helped to build and foster was that of the late John C. Whitehead, with whom I had the privilege of collaborating over a period of thirty-four years. During that time we formed not only an important collection of Impressionist and Modern masterworks, but also a fast and meaningful friendship. When John passed away in February 2015 I was charged with the disposition of his art, leading to dedicated single-owner evening and day auctions at Christie’s. I was highly gratified by the record prices realized, exceeding $70 million, which more than doubled pre-sale estimates. More importantly, I feel quite certain that John would have been equally pleased to know his art found welcoming homes.
