Mission & History
The Mark Tobey Project LLC is the product of more than twenty years of research by Achim Moeller on the American artist Mark Tobey (1890–1976.) The core of the Project's now extensive archive is based on materials compiled by curator Paul Cummings, in the preparation of a catalogue raisonné of the artist's work. Achim Moeller has maintained and expanded this archive, and in 2007 established the Mark Tobey Project LLC to promote the legacy of the artist through research initiatives, authentications, and collaborative exhibitions and publications with institutions worldwide.

Scholarship
Achim Moeller regularly serves in an advisory capacity for exhibitions and publications, on the artist’s work, sharing archival materials with institutions and independent scholars alike. He has organized exhibitions in both New York and Berlin, including “Mark Tobey: Between East and West” (2013,) “Between Friends: Balla + Dorazio, Feininger +Tobey” (2012) and “Mark Tobey: Selected Works: 1944-1970” (2011.) He is the general editor of Years of Friendship, 1944–1956: The Correspondence of Lyonel Feininger and Mark Tobey (Hatje Cantz, 2006.)

Authentication
As managing principal of the Mark Tobey Project LLC, Achim Moeller is approached by auction houses, galleries, museums, and collectors regarding the authenticity of works attributed to the artist. A work determined to be authentic in the opinion of the Mark Tobey Project LLC is assigned a numbered certificate and is included in the archive.
