Authentication
Auction houses, museums, and collectors recognize the expertise of Achim Moeller and frequently approach him with works for authentication. Through the Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, Achim Moeller has been providing certificates of authenticity for works attributed to the artist since 1987. In the past decades, He has issued more than 1,800 certificates of authenticity and identified hundreds of fakes. All works that are determined to be authentic are registered with an individual certificate number in the archives of the Lyonel Feininger Project LLC.

Scholarship

As the internationally recognized authority on the life and work of Lyonel Feininger, Achim Moeller is regularly called upon to advise public institutions on major exhibitions. He has acted as a special consultant for a number of retrospectives including, Lyonel Feininger: At the Edge of the World organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and Lyonel Feininger: Von Gelmeroda nach Manhattan, at the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin and the Haus der Kunst, Munich. In addition to his work as an adviser, Moeller has served as the editor of numerous publications and exhibition catalogues, including Years of Friendship, 1944–1956: The Correspondence of Lyonel Feininger and Mark Tobey and Lyonel Feininger: Drawings and Watercolors from the Julia Feininger Estate.

Catalogue Raisonné
The first volume of Lyonel Feininger: The Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Achim Moeller is available at feiningerproject.org. This is the first expansion of the list of Feininger’s body of work compiled by his wife, Julia, and published in Hans Hess’s 1959 monograph on the artist. As the definitive e-resource for the study of Feininger's life and work, the catalogue raisonné will be regularly expanded and updated when new information comes to light. It currently features all paintings created between 1907 and 1918, as well as extensive literature and exhibition lists.
